Honors

The Dean A. McGee Scholarship is awarded annually by the University of Kansas Department of Geology.

The scholarship is named in honor of Dean A. McGee (1904 - 1989), a Kansas native and University of Kansas graduate, who was a petroleum biologist and leader in the utilities and energy industry.

McGee became Executive Vice President of Oklahoma-based Kerr-McGee Corporation, which became one of the largest independent oil and natural gas exploration and production companies.

Laura was awarded the Dean A. McGee Scholarship for next year as well as a field support scholarship also named for Dean A. McGee for a summer course she needs to take.
