Since Laura's on a mission I thought I would share a little bit of that. Young men age 19-25 that are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are encouraged to serve a mission for the church. It spans a 2 year period and is paid for by the missionary himself. Young women are allowed to serve in the same capacity, but their service is for 18 months. My daughter Laura is coming to the end of the eighteen month service in September. She has been such a great example to her younger siblings in this service. Her letters are so positive and full love for the people in Slovenia where she is serving.
An explanation of the photos: top is a picture of the countryside in Slovenia. I think it reminds me a little bit of southern Missouri with it's rolling hills. Next is one of the missionaries serving in Maribor on a service project for someone in the community. They were helping to clean the yard and do some other work and the family had a BBQ for them afterward. The next photo is of a celebration they have. It is called the Day of the Dead and the people light all of these candles. I thought it was a cool picture. Then there is Laura a few months after arriving in Slovenia. They were taking a tour of the country on their p-day and one of the sites they saw was a cool cemetery. The bottom photo is of the missionaries that are serving in Slovenia. They are a great looking bunch!
