Attitude of Gratitude Day 5

1. I love looking out my front window (between the spots mind you) and watching the sun rise. I don't do that very often, because I like my sleep too much, but when the season matches my sleep pattern I enjoy seeing the beautiful golds, reds, and purples that color the sky.

2. The beauty of nature.

3. I am grateful for trials. It's difficult to say that when in the midst of them, but how else would we progress?

4. I am thankful for good books and the ability to read.

5. The ease in traveling long distances.

Attitude of Gratitude Day 4

These are just a few more of the things for which I am grateful.
1. Sunshine

2. Hope

3. Knowledge

4. Hobbies

5. Someone else's cooking

This was really difficult to do today. Not because I don't have things in which to be grateful, but the blue monster is rearing it's ugly head.

Attitude of Gratitude Day 3

This activity gets more difficult each day, because I've told myself I can't repeat anything I've already said and it's only the third day.
1. Earthly Angels come in all shapes and sizes. I can think of two in particular that have done more for me than they will ever know.

2. I know this will sound a bit silly, but every time I do laundry,
I say a little prayer of thanksgiving for my washer and dryer. I just think back to pioneer days and how
they washed clothes and count my blessings that I don't have to wash by hand, unless of course the tag says so.

Of course my laundry room will never be this neat and tidy, but at least I have one.

3.Even though I complain all the time about the weather, I'm glad I live in an area where the seasons change.
In 2 Nephi 2:11 it says,"For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things..."
Okay so maybe the Lord wasn't talking about the weather here, but the same principle applies I think. How can I appreciate the perfect days without some contrast.
Like this fall so far. I can't remember the last time autumn in the Kansas City Metro area has been this pleasant.

4. My blue comfy chair is my favorite spot in the whole house.

5. Modern medicine is a miracle. So many advances in the last century, antibiotics, organ transplants and many more things.

Attitude of Gratitude Day2

1. Today I am thankful for the right to vote. This is just one of the many freedoms I take for granted most times. On a day like today though, I will choose to exercise that right.

2. Modern technology. I was reminded this morning how easy it is to stay in touch with people I care about even if that person is clear across the other side of the world.

3. Friends. I am truly grateful for those who know me and like me anyway.

This is not an exclusive rendering of those I consider to be my friends so if I've left anyone out please don't be angry with me.

4. Blessings of the temple. I am eternally grateful for this.

5. Employment

Attitude of Gratitude Day 1

Several years ago, my daughter Linda had us as a family do this for a month long family activity. Every day for three weeks we were to think of 5 things for which we were grateful. I am going to try and do that here until Thanksgiving. The hard thing about this is limiting it to 5 per day, but I shall try.
1. Family. Our loved ones bring us the most joy and the most sorrow. One can't have one without the other.

2. The Atonement. I would be completely lost without this wonderful gift. I am and will be eternally grateful for His sacrifice. A portion of the song "This Is the Christ" pops in my head right now. "How many drops of blood were spilt for me?"

3. The Restored Gospel. I wouldn't have the understanding of the atonement without the gospel being restored.

4. Agency. This may seem an odd thing in which to be grateful, but this is the only thing that is truly mine and I cherish it. I hope to be able to use this power in doing what Heavenly Father would want me to do.

5. USA. Even with all the negative things happening in the government these days, this country was founded on correct principles. Without these we wouldn't have the freedom to worship the way we do.

I'm starting with these because they are the basis of everything for which I am thankful. All the rest is just icing on the cake.
